About Victoria Mauritian Pastoral Council
The Victoria Mauritian Pastoral Council Inc., a non-profit organisation was established in February 1973 and incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 in 1996. The VMPC provides and promotes Pastoral, Social and Cultural activities etc..
Fr. Moriarty – Chaplain to the Mauritian and French Speaking Background was the founder of the VMPC and in 1973. Fr. Moriarty and his team (Jean-François Paul (now deceased), Rose Paul, Herve Carver, Jacques and Therese Rochery (now deceased), Dr lavoipierre and Antoine Stanley (still VMPC Member) had to help lots of Mauritians who were struggling to settle as migrants in Melbourne. He was helping them in various ways such as finding accommodation for the needy, providing psychological and spiritual support
Fr. Moriarty was also an organiser of Charter Flight to Mauritius. In those days Air Mauritius did not exist. . It was really a great occasion for the Mauritian Community to visit their parents and relatives in their distant Island home – Mauritius
“ Centre Pere Laval” belongs to the VMPC and the building was inaugurated on the 12th of June 2016. It is located at No 15 Malibu Circuit – Carrum Downs Victoria 3201 Australia
